I have never heard of anything like this before. Most readers will never get out to Fort Jefferson in the Gulf of Mexicoand they are missing something. Information is arranged in brief paragraphs that seem to bounce around the pages, mimicking a fashion-magazine layout. Despite Will Wallace being the main character, the book frequently shows things from the perspective of other characters (many of whom are historical) and it is those who died for their faith who are the heroes of the tale. Its not the prestige that brings them to the kitchen, its not the corner office, and its definitely not the paycheck.

Both “Lavengro” and “The Romany Rye” are semi-autobiographical, with the latter being essentially a direct continuation of the former. It was like a really messed up Twilight Zone episode or something.
